THE THIRD TEST

RAIN AT AUCKLAND HEAVY GROUND EXPECTED. CROWDS ASSEMBLE EARLY. (By Telegraph— Press Association ) AUCKLAND, July 20. After a line day yesterday, there was raiu overnight and Eden Park Rugby field is bound to be on the heavy side for the third Test. Despite a bleak morning, the crowd began to assemble as early as 7 o’clock. Although it was then fine, by 8 o’clock it commenced to drizzle, but the indications are that the day will be showery at the worst. A large influx is expected from all parts of the province, and in the meantime trains are all running late. The southerly weather and Britain’s indifferent showing last week may result in disappointing. gate figures, although the second Test record of 34,700 at Christchurch was expected to be exceeded, especially as League, Soccer, and hockey senior fixtures have been postponed for the occasion, and the Stock Exchange didnot hold’its usual Saturday' morning call. The occupants of private grandstands overlooking Eden Park will not be allowed an undisturbed view of the Test football, as the authorities have arranged to put up fabric screens along tlie boundaries of the park. The officials state that they will be removed if 2/G is paid by each person using private stands. Among the 1905 All Blacks those certain to be present are: Alex. McDonald, E. Booth, J. W. Stead, G. W. Nicholson, G. Tyler and G. Gillett, while J. Hunter, J. J. O’Sullivan, W. S. Glenn and W. J. Wallace were expected to attend. The teams will be:—-

Britain: Bassett, Reeve, Aarvold (captain), Bowcott, Morley, Spong, Poole (serum half), Rew, Parker, O’Neill (front row), Black, Farrell (supports), Hodgson, Beamish, Ivor Jones (back row). New Zealand: Nepia, Lucas, Cooke '(centre), Hart, Nieliolls, Strang (first five-eighths;, Corner, Porter (captain), Cotte rell, Here, -S tee re (lock)-, Hazlett, McWilliams. McLean, Batty. Poole, unlike Murray, runs from the scrum, and Porter will have to mark him. Strang will be opposed to Spong, Nicholls to Bowcott, Cooke to Aarvold, Lucas (left) to Morley (right), and Hart (right) to Reeve (left). The referee will be Mr S. Hollander (Christchurch) for his third successive Test.
