■ —•ti OTIA'NiGAT. v. WITAR'E'ROA :As the result of a fast, and interesting contest at 'Ohangai yesterday, the local team, defeated Whareroa by 9 points t-oi 7. The first spell was’ in favour of: Oliangai, who, however, faded am ay in the first half of the second s-peli to revive, later and score the winning try. ■-Hin-gai relieved uninteresting play in the-opening stages, when he gained possession near Whareroa’s quarter line. 'Lander received his pass and raced for 'the corner, where he was forced out. Pokaro scored from the following lineont. Lander failed with the kick at goal. 'Ohaitgai made two dangerous forward rushes, the- second concluding when Pini scored u good try from a scramble. 'Ravage's kick failed. Ohangai at this- stage was proving too strong for the/Whareroa men, keeping them penned in 'their own territory. A penalty enabled ’Ravage to have, -a shot at goal, the. bail striking the post andbouncing back into play. Ohangai nearly scored again- when iSavage made a good run, short punting to Miller, Whareroa’s full-back, who was caught in possession. Superior defence enabled Whareroa to clear. The interval was heralded' with a six -point lead to Ohangai. On resumption Whareroa took play to Ohangai’s line, nvhere. P. O’-Shca. kicked straight upheld from the posts into Miller’s hands. The Whareroa man unhesitatingly dropped a goal from Hie field. 'Whareroa followed this advantage, When Johnston notched' a try from a. forward rush, the kick failing. As a result of this reverse Ohangai infused more life into the play and threatened Whareroa’s line. Excitement ran high as Ravage, receiving from R'adford, streaked for the line, but the ball went out. 'Ohangai’s winning try was the result of a great piece of passing along practically the length of the back, line, Bloor scoring yell out. .Mowbray’s kicked failed. Both teams made great efforts to add points, but could not do so before the final whistle sounded with Ihe score: 'Ohangai 9. Whareroa 7. !Mr W.fanning was the referee. CITY v. FRASER ROAD ICTTY IS BUG BCO'RE The City’('llawera) team were much { too good for Eraser .Road at Ilawera j yesterday and ran up a “cricket score" of 46 points to nil. Pity commenced brightly with a loose forward' rush. Kendall kicked through for Macbeth to smartly follow up and score, Kendall started his bach's off and the ball went out to Barlow, who scored. No wall led -Fraser Road to the attach', a rousing onslaught finding Hart in difficulties. lie was. however, able to touch down. lOit.y began a passing movement which broke down, but Ilart was handy to pick up and pot a neat god.
