A series of meetings was held in the House of Commons as a preliminary to to-day’s division on unemployment. The Government’s defeat is now considered to be unlikely. Fifteen members of the -Labour Party who did not support the Government last week, after prolonged discussion decided to await the Ministerial statement before choosing! their line of action.
