OK ABB. xiie 'tioatJi of Mr James Soott Crabo, vdntui occurred at Ins resilience at> ±±a~ wera on Tuesday marked tue passing oi another member oil the last diministimig mind of the district pioneers. Air Lrabb was 78 years <jt age. A native of Kinneff, Kincardineshire, Scotland, lie arrived in New Zealand o'/ years ago as a passenger on tlie sailing ship''Wild Dude, taking 103 days to make the voyagei, ‘and took up fanning at Westmere. In 1887 he married a daughter of tire late Al:r John Maxwell, of Parkhead., Westmere, and in the same year acquired a farm property at Al an Utah i, w here lie lived ant-i'i 1907, when, with his wife and daughter, he came to reside in Hawera.
He was a well-known and highly-re-spected settler nndl took a. great interest in everything appertaining to farming and agricutuiral pursuits'. For some years, until his health began to fail, .he was a well-known personality among bowlers. He is survived by his widow and their daughter, Alias Mary C. Crabb. The funeral is to take place tomorrow, leaving his Wilson Street residence at 1.30 'p.m.
