— NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council was held in Wellington on Monday, when there were I present Mr. W. E. A Gill (chairman), Sir Alexander Roberts, and Messrs At. J. Crombie, A. D. S. Duncan, V. A. Kiely, L. O. H. Trip-p, and G. O. Sutton (secretary). An apology lor absence was received from Colonel R. O. Cliosney. The chief business of the meeting was consideration of the team to represent New Zealand in the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches at Shirley, Christchurch, on April 17. After consideration it was decided to select live players, from whom the team of four will be finally chosen before the day of the match. The live players chosen were J. L. Black (Hamilton), T. H. Horton (Alasterton), Dr Iv. Ross (Otago), A. D. S. Duncan (Wellington), J?. M. McFarlnne (Christchurch). it was reported that a letter had been received from J. H. Kirkwood, but it did not indicate the proposed date on which he and Hagen would sail. It was presumed that, in order to carry out their New Zealand programme, they" will arrive at Auckland in the Aorangi on Monday, February 24. The arrangement is that they played exhibition matches at Titirangi ( Auckland) on February 25, at Miramai (Wellington) on the 26th, and at Shirley (Christchurch) on February 27. It was decided to offer John Lambic and 'T. Galloway re-engagements on I the same terms as last year, j , The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of I St. Andrews wrote confirming their cablegrams regarding the legalising of steel shafted clubs, and the raising of the age limit up to which a youth may act as a paid caddy without losing amateur status from i 6 to 18 years. Forthcoming tournaments were advised as follows: Professionals’ autumn tournament (R.ussley, Christchurch), March 1, 3 and 4; Kirk-Windeyer Cup Shirley), April 16 and 17; Chri.st•lnireli Faster tournament (Shirley)April 19 to 26; Auckland Provincial Championship Tournament (Hamilton), April ]9, 21 and 22.
