BRAWL AT A DANCE
YOUTHS LOOKING FOR FIGHT. NAME SUPPRESSION REFUSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 20. George Edward Olsen, aged 18, was charged in the Police Court with obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty, and Alfred Henry Barker, alias George Roberts, aged 19, was charged with being drunk and using insulting language. The youths went from town and caused a disturbance at a New Lynn dance when the local lads resented their action in trying to force their way in. The appearance of a constable prevented the intruders from being very roughly handled. Constable Boag said accused were full of beer and looking for fight. Apparently they were known in their own district and went to other parts. A lot of these youths drove in motor cars to the outer districts and caused trouble. “May we have our names suppressed?” asked Barker. . “Certainly not,” replied the magistrate. “If I had my way I -would advertise your names in every dance hall in Auckland.” Each was fined £5 or 14 days in gaol.
