OVER-RIPE BANANAS
MAUI POMARE’S CARGO (Bv Telegraph—Press Association ) WELLINGTON, Jan. 20. Owing tot signs of her cargo off bananas becoming over-ripe the island steamer Maui Pomarc put into Wellington last night instead of proceeding to Lyttelton. The refrgierating machinery is working satisfactorily, but the fruit was on the ripe side when loaded at Apia. The heat tvas then 98 degrees in the shade and xl4 in the sun.
