ROBINSON "HANDICAP. TWO. DIVISIONS ARRANGED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Doc. 21. Owing to the number of acceptors j for the Robinson Handicap, the A.R.C. has decided to divide the event and j increase the stake to £6OO, with £250 for catch winner, £35 for second and £ls for third. The first division is: Valuation, Gay Cockade, Luminary, Hunting Day, Tctirachate 1 , Froth-blower, Some 1 Lady, Joy Girl, Greenaway, Treasurer, Antique, Neil Te Apurangi, Nassau Lady, Glittering Gold, Mon Star, Sweet Whisper and Waiatu Lady. The second division is: Avonseourt, Roman Pearl, Royal Parade, Indolent, Sea Song, Mauriaena, Red Lion, Diamond Queen, Currajong, Valercint, Negress, Hannibal, Merry Lu, -Measurer, Cynic, and Tuku. HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.”) Routine work was the general order at the Hawena racecourse this morning, very little fast work being performed. On the plough track Coal bag finished in front of the Bisogne two-year-old!, Panatrapoi. overt half a mile, compassed in 52se:cs. On the trial grass, V'alpre and Animated finished together over four furlongs in 52s©cs. The hurdler, Capey, and Go wan Lea were, together at the end of the ilia'lfmile, run in 52-Jsecs. Homewood ran home three furlongs alone in 39isecs. Vivo hit out well in her pace work over two rounds. Royal Acre and Joy Spear were afeo given pace work. The Warden and Fotrial ice; galloped their baiif-mile in 51 3-sseos. •Clever .Orazone, Anbrid'ge and Tarek a all did easy exercise work. PaganeUli,. who leaves 1 for Pallmeinaton North on Monday, was restricted to half pace work, similar work being arpnortioned Mactroom. Ross Ferry, Calamine, land Tentoall pottered about on the centre oval. Latakia did a couple of rounds of half pace work. Bright Glow was exercised! on the lead. Bright Glow’s holiday programme was practically arranged for Palmerston and Mart nil, but this may be altered, and the trip to Auckland, where the ma re is nominated for the two concluding days, taken on. J. Brown, with Silvermine and Awaken. 'left by the mail train this morning for Auckland. Both horses are expected to run prominently in their encrarrements. I/. J. EMis is to ride the pair. Seatown has been accepted for both Mannwatu and Auckland Cups, but is most likely to run at Auckland'. Seatown sustained a slight injury to one of bis feet while contesting the Elgin out Cup, but it is not expected to interfere with his Christmas engagements. A. J. McCormac is to ride Rabbi in the Manawatu and Wnirarapa Cups.

TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. CHRISTMAS RACING. The Christmas meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club, to be held on the New Plymouth course on Thursday and Friday, is expected to maintain fully the popular reputation of the fixture. The course is in beautiful order, and the delightful surroundings are looking very bright and fresh after the recent rains. For the convenience of lawn patrons a number of additional betting windows have been provided at the totalisator house, iso that there should now he ample accommodation. There will be 10s tickets, both inside and out. Arrangements have been made for the installation of a. hot water service in the narking gullv at the rear of the grandstand, and this will bo available for natrons arriving by car who desire a nicnic lunch. AVakefield Street-, just to the west of the main entrance to the course, will bo available as an additional parking area. Patrons arriving by car from south are asked to use the Avenue Road entrance. and thus facilitate as much as possible the parking arrangements. Tn order to avoid congestion at, the gates, it is also desirable that visitors should have the correct change. By so doing tliov will assist in avoiding delays which are often irksome, and thus enable the -staff to more satisfactorily cope with the traffic. A UCKL A ND PREP A R ATIONS. TUTS AfORNING’S GALLOPS'. AUCKLAND. Dec. 21. Rain fell overnight, but the weather though dull was fine when training

work commenced at Ellerslie this morning, and with the exception of one heavy shower about 6.30 o’clock it remained so. The course proper, with poles about 35 feet out from the rails, was available for fast work, while No. 3 grass track, the sand and the tan tracks were also used a little. The going was good, though somewhat dead,, and there, were some interesting gallops. Several Cup candidates were out. Those that pleased most were Corinax, I*l-06100 and Paquito. On the course proper, Gold Money jumped away from the five furlong post, running the first two furlongs "in 25sec and the full distance in 1.5. Eager Rose, not doing her best, went six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Shrewd (H. Wiggins) was given strong work over a mile and a quarter in 2.32, the last round taking 2.22. He went very evenly throughout, not doing his best at any stage of the journey. Avoncouft and War Officer finished on terms over five furlongs in 1.7 2-5. Brampton and Neil together finished in front of Red Lion over five furlongs in 1.8 1-5. There was little between Pedestal and Hannibal over six furlongs in 1.21 3-5. King Emerald, alone, got to the end of a mile in 1.49 3-5. Hampton Park ran home from the three furlong peg in 38 l-ssec, doing it well.

Tliursby was in front of Ivawainga at the eiid of six furlongs in 1.22. Honour and Jaloux jumped away at the seven furlong post. After running the first three furlongs, in 39 l-ssec and the half-mile in 51 4-ssec, with Jaloux in front at this stage, they completed the full distance in 1.32 2-5, Honour having the advantage when the post was reached. This colt is galloping well, and he promises to be a very tough proposition in the Great Northern Derby. Gemlight was in front of Praetor at the end of five furlongs in 1.6. Duiiraven, the two-year-old fullbrother to Limerick, was sent three furlongs with Drastic, running home in 39sec.,,There was not much between them, though Dunraven, on the outside, pleased most. Respirator completed a six furlongs task in 1.22 3-5.

The best five furlongs gallop of the morning was accomplished by Praise, who heat Greenaway. They ran the first two furlongs in 24 2-ssec and came home in 1.4 4-5. Toxeuma, Tea Time and Taneira were in that order after running six furlongs in 1.20. Toxeuma, who' was ridden by E. S tana way and had a good deal the worst of weights, pleased most. Good Idea went five furlongs in 1.7 1-5. There was very little between Currajong and Tetracnate over six furlongs in 1.19 1-5.

Lady’s Boy went three furlongs in 39set\ The two-year-olds, Biddy’s Boy and Tenterden, reeled off half a mile in 50 l-osee. This was a good effort and both youngsters went very well. Vcrtigern and Corinax went out to gallop round on the course proper, but when proceeding down to the starting point on the inside of the course Vertigern took charge of his -rider and bolted a round of No. 3 grass track. The pair were later lined up on the course proper and Corinax, who jumped- away slightly in front of his companion, led throughout, beating Vertigern. by several lengths. Tlie round was completed in 2.5 2-5. The run was the best of the morning over a distance. The last seven furlongs took 1.31 and the last four furlongs 52 3-osec. Richfield beat Diamond Queen by several lengths over five furlongs in 1.5 4-5.

Prodice, alone, started off over a round in 2.8, the last seven furlongs taking 1.35 and the final half mile 54 4-oscc. She went very pleasingly throughout, and finished on strongly. This filly is very well. After running the first four furlongs in 51 3-ssec, Amor, Duollona and Pangolin were bunched at. the end of seven furlongs in 1.33. Duollona, on the outside, pleased most. Hyde Park went a mile in 1.47 1-5. The Cup candidates, Paquito and Count Cavour, jumped away at the top of the straight, and, though the former got a hit of a break on at the start, Count Cavour was- with him as they reached the mile and a quarter post. They covered the distance in 2.17 2-5, with Count Cavour a shade in front when they passed the post. They ran the last round in 2.7 2-5 and the final six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Both horses did their work well, but Paquito was going much the easier.

Count Palatine and King Midas were allotted a seven furlongs task, but were not timed over the full journey. They ran the last half mile in 54.-:ec.

Plying Prince held Nassau Lady safely over six furlongs.
