The N.S.W. Swimming Association has decided to ask the Australian Union to invite G. Bridson, of Auckland, to accompany Ryan and Griffiths back from New Zealand to compete in the State championships.

HAWERA CLUB CONTESTS. SERIES CONTINUED. The last evening meeting of the Hawera Swimming Club for 1929 was held in the baths last night before a good attendance of the public. Entries were excellent and competition keen. The officials were: Judges of swimming, Messsr A. Blair, J. McLean and At. Oldfield; judges of diving, Messrs G. S. Robb, V. Spragg, S. Anderson and D. C Ryan. Results were as follow, (C) denoting captain’s team and (V.C.) vice-cap-tain’s team : 25 vards intermediate ladies. —Miss E. Kelsen, 2sec (C). 1; Miss S. Seaver. 4see (V.C.), 2; Miss F. Murray, 4sec (V.C.), 3. A very close finish, all the field finishing in a hunch. Men’s 25 yards.—First- heat: G. Sutton. 2sec'(C). 1; G. M. Meyrick, Isec (C). 2; F. Kendall, 4sec fC), 3. Second heat: N. Nelson. 4sec (A 7 .C.), 1; G, McLean. 2sec (C). 2; A. Ryan, Isec (C), 3. Third heat: J. Jobson. Isec (C), 1 ; S. Anderson, scr (V.C.), 2; B. Bucldand. 4seo (V.C.), 3. Final: N. Nelson 1, G. Sutton 2. J. Jobson 3. Nelson proved too fast, and his handicap enabled him to win easily. Sutton and Jobson swam very well. Anderson found the starts he had to give too much. Ladies’ dive.—Miss F. Murray (V.C.). 33 points, 1 ; Miss R. Pease (CL 31 points, 2; Miss M. Powdrell (C). 29 points. 3. Some very good diving was witnessed. Miss Murray se( a high standard, and Miss Pease made verv few mistakes. Miss Powdrell also dived verv well.

Men’s dive.—P. Spragg (V.C.) 1, W. Carter (C) 2. Livingston (C) 3. Spragg dived hpautifnllv and won easily. Both Carter and Livingston showed good form. Ladies’ 25 vards. —First heat: Miss E.
