Mr 13. Wills, of the Kotomarae Road, who has disposed of his farm, will leave oil Monday on a trip ho the l Waikato to liarve a look round the country there and to study the methods of 'the fanners. Returning after an absence of six months, during which he visited Australia, Great and Continental Europe, Mr G. R. Horsburgh, of Hawera, reached home on Wednesday. Mr Horsburgh mad© the extended trip principally for health recruiting purposes, and has benefited considerably during the period.

At the annual meeting of the South Taranaki Rural Credits Association yesterday cordial appreciation was expressed of the good work done .by Mr C. Ereyberg, district supervisor, who, as Mr E. K. Cameron said, had given much personal work and got behind the association and thus .helped! it- in every ■way possible in the difficult first year of its operations. A cordial vote of appreciation to Mr W. A. Hewitt was passed at the annual meeting of the South Taranaki Rural Credits' Association yesterday for his kindness in auditing the accounts of the association for the past, year without any remuneration. In acknowledging the vote, Mr Hewitt said the work was both a duty and a pleasure, and he was glad to do something for the district.

Mr. G. W. Powtlrell, of the auction department of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Society, Ltd., who is to be married next week, was the recipient of a presentation from the staff of the society this morning. In asking Mr. Powdrell to accept from the staff a set of carvers, cutlery, and other tableware, Mr. C. G. Trotter, assistant-manager, assured him of the good wishes of all for his future happiness.

A Petone telegram states that Mr. James Kerr, of Petone, will be the official United Party candidate at the forthcoming Hutt bye-election, hits nomination being endorsed by the Dominion executive and Sir Joseph Ward last night. The candidate is a son ot the late Hon. James Kerr, M.L.C., and is proprietor of the “Hutt and Petone Chronicle.”
