S.T.A.A. YEAR BOOK.
FIXE PUBLICATION ISSUED. The Year Book of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, containing the annual report and accounts for the year 1928-29 and a mass of other information, has been issued by the general secretary (Mr. W. (J. U alkley). It is a book of 08 quarto pages, with a neat cover, on whien the badge 01 the association is printed in colours. Tlie Year Book is not a mere record of tne association’s activities, for space has been found for a number of informatory articles, which cannot fail to interest motorists. An article entitled ‘‘Cattle and the Car,” contributed oy a member, is well worth reading, anu records oi motor vehicle registration, comments on tlie Mam Highways Act, descriptions of the road system and other features add to the attractiveness of the publication. The report of the president (Mr. W. A. O’Oaliaghan) on the association’s year eontams some \ cry interesting information. The year ended on August 3r, iy29, was, he says, remarkable in respect of the great increase of mem■bersnip. in June, 1928, the association Had 7'2i members, and. tlie number reached 1000 before August 31 of last year. ilie membership on August 31 last was 2003 and on September 30, -oj3.
Tne South. Taranaki Automobile Association now lias more members than aiij other association in proportion to the number ot motor ears registered in its district. .The percentage of members to registrations of cars are as ioliows: Soutli Taranaki 55 per cent-, North Taranaki 40, Auckland 26, Wanganui 22, Wairarapa 22, Wellington 20, Hawke’s Bay 19.
