SUPER HIGHWAYS

There is no speed limit on Italy’s ncv>- Miper-liighway or “autos-trada.'

Ninety or 100 miles an hour is not uncommon ior the bigger cars capable of holding that pace. These modern highways are straight, fiat, unintersected and reserved exclusively for passengercarrying motor-car traffic. More than 200 miles of these super-highways have already been opened, and a half a dozen brandies from the main arteries are under construction or projected. On the super-highways crossings are separated by bridges and viaducts. Strong fences along the right-of-way keep out pedestrian intruders. There are no angular turns. The roads vary from 24 to 40 feet in width. A telephone service at frequent points make it possible for the unfortunate motorist to call for service.
