rjpo Stand the Season at Glover Eoad, Hawera and travel where sufficient inducement offers— The Blood Stallion SANDSTAR * (No. 18) By Sands of the.. Orient—Mary SANDSTAR, foaled 1921, is a bay horse standing lb'.2 high, and is of a beautiful temper and constitution. No thoroughbred seen south of the line has had a stouter strain of blood than Sandstar. His grandsire on the male sile is Rock Sand, and on the dam's side Bright Steel. His great grandsires were Sanfoin and Henry of Navarre (sire's side) and St. Simon and Positano (dam's side). These are names to conjure with and columns could be written of the performances of the progeny of thoj great sires named. Sandstar, during his short stay on the turf, was a successful performer, also his sire, Sands of the Orient, and his grandsire, Rock Sand, who won the Derby and St. Leger and Two Thousand Guineas in England. Sandstar broke his fetlock joint and only raced on ten oceasiosu,' twice as a two year-old, being unplaced; eight times us a three-year-old, being placed on every occasion, winning live, also once second and twice third. The races he won included: Ken -; sington Handicap. Standstar and Bisogne are No. IS sires, St. Evelyn being the grand-darn of Bisogne and the great-grand-dam oi Sandstar.
