ELECTRIC LIGHT BALL.

A SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR.

LARiGE ATTENTDANCE. No less than five hundred people ■were present at the annual ball given ‘by the staff of the 'Hawera Electric Light .Company last, night in the winter show hall, and it was in every way a successful affair. Amongst those present were the local directors and the general manager, all of -whom took a keen interest in the proceedings. The decorations and lighting scheme were on a lavish Scale and made the hall and its, approaches look like a fairy land. In the downstairs hall were arranged large arches of greenery picked out with many lights, making an effective approach to the stairways, leading to the main dancing hall. The stairs .were also set out in greenery andflowers. The ensemble in the hall made a brilliant display. The colour scheme was in the main amber and blue, with a background of greenery. In the centre was a large star and from this there radiated to smaller stars in ea<fii corner, streamers of anther.and blue, with brilliant lights all round—green, blue, amber, and red and wfith a mysterious effect of concealed lights on the walls. It was a triumph in the art of decoration. The members of the staff who were responsible for the work had iworked hard and long to secure the. .desired- result and they were fully entitled to the many compliment's paid them by those present, on the effectiveness of the display.
