A sports ground is being added at considerablecost.
EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUNDS. PALMERSTON N., Aug. 31. The Palmerston .North fund for earthquake relief closed to-day -with a total -of £2071.

WELLINGTON, Aug. 31
The Now Zealand Institute of Accountants has elected the following officers: President, Mr J. L. Arcus; vice-president, Mr 'H. Bicknell; treasurer, Mr Menzies; secretary, Mr Morpeth; . council, Messrs Bruce, (Auckland), McCulock (Hawke’s Bay), Menzies (Wellington), Bicknell (Christchurch, ' Barr (Dunedin). Support was accorded to the proposed establishment of a commercial library in connection with the Wellington 'City Library and it was agreed to set aside £IOO as a donation towards any commercial libraries in connection with municipal and other public libraries, the maximum amount to any one library to be £25. Advantage of expert direction of such libraries to students and others was strongly stressed.
