ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DEATH FROM INJURIES. . r ßy Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 31. At the inquest to-day the coroner returned a verdict of death as the result of injuries received in a collision between, the deceased, Hcrmont Archibald Kiernan, aged 31, who- was riding a bicycle, and a motor car driven by J. F. Donovan. The accident occurred on the night of August 14 in Petone, the deceased receiving a fracture of the base of the skull.

GISBORNE, Aug. 31
Tripping in the doorway at Arakihi station, a Maori child, named Ahipene Nicholson, aged two years, struck her head on the floor with, such force that she died front the.injury sustained.
