NEW ZEALAND’S .REPRESENTATIVE FARE WELLED. 1 (By Telegraph—Press Ass<yu>tion ) rV;* WELLTNGTON, Aug. 28. Mr M. B. Efeson, second-assist ant secretary of the P. and T. Department, who lias (been appointed the New Zealand representative in London on the Imperial Communications Advisory Committee, left iby the Mataroa to-day. Yesterday he was fa re welled by a large gathering of officers of all! branches at which the Postmaster-Gen-eral! presented him with a wallet, of sovereigns, subscribed all over the Dominion and paid a very high tribute to Mr Esson. Mr J. Robertson, acting secretary, and Mr A. Gibbs, chief telegraph engineer, also eulogised Mr Esson and conveyed to him the best wishes of the service. Mr Esson, who has been connected with the service for 26 years, having started as a telegrapliist. expressed his thanks and paid a high tribute to the engineering side of the service. He said that the engineers were working quietly all the time and very little became known of their activities and perhaps they did not get. full credit for them.
