■ 4 V/; * \ ; ) (Proof'Our Own Correspondent). SCOTTISH SOCIETY’S DANCE. There was a. record attendance for the season at the Auroa. Scottish Society’© dance on Wednesday eveulitag, visitors being present from uH! round the district from Hawera to Opunahe. The sum of £42 was taken at the door. Coburn’s orchestra supplied the music, and extras were played by Miss Evans, Mr Jeffries, and Mrs Benton. ‘ A Kiss Nairn danced a Scotch dance and a sword dance, wluch were encored. Mir Martin capably carried out the duties of M.C., assisted by Messrs T. Ross, K. Murray and J. Lyndon. Mr and Mrs A. N. Brown led off the- Grand March. For tlie novelty daaice s the following were the winners:—Spot waltz. No. 1, Mr Bishop and Miss Martin, No. 2 Mr P. Hammersley and Miss Muir, No. 3, Mir Ken Murray and partner. The special prizes for these three dances were: donated' bv Messrs J. C. Duff. O.; Rowland and W. Lyndon. A box of liandkerohifs was competed for and was won by Mr P. Ingram. PERSONAL. Miss Duff is an inmate of a private hospital, having undergone two operations.
