Mr and Mrs L. A. Bone, who left last month <ju a. trip abroad, arrived in .London yesterday. Both were in good health, according to a cable received, to-day by their .son, Mr Bred Bone. Mr H. A. T. Gallagher, formerly of \\ anganui, was appointed by tiie Kaponga d own uoaid on Monday evening as tne Town Ciena at lvaponga in succession to Mr G. P. Cook, who recently re-signed from, the •position owing to indisposition. which necessitated a lengthy vacation. In making the new appoints ment, the baa.rd had the choice of 50 applicants forwarded from various. parts of the Dominion. Mr Gallagher takes wj> his duties this week. A motion of condolence with the relatives of tlie late Mr M. H. Wybourne, oif Waverley, a pioneer settler of that district, was carried ait the meeting of the Patea County Council yesterday. 1 Speaking to the motion, Gr. Johnston said Mr Wybouimo had been connected with the public life of the district for over forty years, on the Bead Board and Domain Board. Mr Wybourne had lived a good clean life and his happy personality made him a main who would be greatly missed. Or. Watkins, as a fellow member for twenty-four years on the Bead Board, said Mr Wybourne was known as “a grand old man,” always willing to help a good cause. The council adjournel for five minutes out of respect to his memory.
