HAWERA MEN’S CLUB. 1 A well-attended meeting of Hawera 1 enthusiasts was held in Hawera last evening to elect officials and arrange the preliminary matters in connection with the approaching 1929 season, Mr. A. Bell presiding. Owing to the fact that the minute book for last season was not available (the late secretary having left the district), it was decided to open new books and make a iresh start. The election ot officers for the 1929 season was as follows: Patron, Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P.; president, Mr. S. Catran; vice-presidents, Messrs E. A. Pacey ,H. R. Kemp, L. Harrison, \ . Warner, J. Campbell, W. IK Shaw, T. Simons; secretary, Mr. F. Rodie; treasurer, Mr. F. Sage; club captain, Mr. R. Wilton: selection committee, Messrs F. Sage, E. Fryer, and R. Wilton ; general committee, Messrs R. Wilton, E. Fryer, A. Ryan, N. Simons A. Arnold. A. Dowdle. L. Wise, and F. Rodie; social committee, Messrs GMcGlashan, N. Simons, E. Fryer, W. Shaw. A. Arnold, and F. Rodie. GENERAL. It was decided to hold a trial game on the 10th inst. in order to select two teams These teams would be known as ' the “Battlers” and the “Warriors.” Further arrangements for practice dates, etc., were finalised, and a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Sage for the use of his shop for meetings closed the meeting.
