BATTLE MANOEUVRES. Seven aeroplanes flying over Christchurch the other afternoon attracted a good deal of attention. They weie practising what is termed battle formation, this being the way aeroplanes fly when going on a hostile mission. Captains Findlay and Buckley, m Grebes, Captains Harrison, Hall, and lou lei, and Lieutenant Craig (of Hawera), in Bristols, and Lieutenant Smith, •in a D.H.4, were the flyers. Speaking to a “Hawera Star representative, Lieut. Craig said it was tli r iking to witness-the Grebes used by the two leaders at work. He and his companions in the Bristols were flying at an average of about seventy mi e. an hour, but Captain Findlay and Captain Buckley simply flew round them as they wished. It was. he said, * striking indication of tlio possibilities of the latest and fastest machines.
