SYDNEY, April 2. A thrilling parachute descent was witnessed at Penrith. Speedway. Bruce Shipway, an aero pilot, leapt from a plane at a height of 3000 ft and fell 2000 ft before he. was able to: make his parachute open. The release of the appliance broke off during the fall and Shipway had tO' unfasten the parachute himself. He eventually came safely to the ground in the- bed of a creek, stampeding a herd of cattle which was grazing in the vicinity.
