FARMERS’ TOUR.

SOUTH TARANAKI TO SOUTHLAND. DETAILS OF ARRANGEMENTS. A great deal of correspondence has. been received by the secretary of the South Taranaki Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union (Mr E. K. Cameron) from branches in the South Island, all assuring the members who join the tour of farmers to Southland of a- warm welcome and every facility possible to make the visit enjoyable. From Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill have come promises of entertainment. At Oamaru a special combined committee of farmers and business people has been set up to arrange a luncheon and other entertainment. In Dunedin tickets will be issued for the winter show and for tlie Dunedin Race Club’s meeting on June 1 to 6. Tlie latter information has been received from Mr L- G. Hill, formerly of Hawera, The secretary of the union at Invercargill states that Southland will do everything possible to make the tour a pleasant one. The Agricultural Department will arrange a special carriage on the train with experts to lecture to the farmers. The Railway Department is arranging for all accommodation at hotels at each centre and quoting very low rates. Farmers have to book right through and if there are 160 intending passengers. special trains, will be arranged. AH details are being looked after by the South Taranaki Executive and many inquiries are being received.
