It is ahvays interesting to hear of an old firm going on from one generation to unotner, and of young men of to-day "making good.” Such sentiments may be applied to recent developments in connection with tlie Charles Haines Advertising Agency, -Ltd., uliose founder died a few Meeks ago. Aiany people, familiar M'ith the firm only by its reputation, have imagined that possibly the Agency might suffer a setback by the inevitable change in control. Such is not tlie case, however, as we are assured by an ottioial statement just made by the directorate of the Haines Agency. It is stated that many years ago Mr. Haines, with wise foresight, began to make arrangements M'bereby the control of tlie business Mould eventually pass to the leading members of his organisation. As long ago as 1919, Mlien tlie Agency was formed into a Company, a first distribution of Shares was made amongst certain members of tlie Staff. Three years ago, several executives were promoted to tlie Board of Directors, each Branch Office Alanager hats a seat on the Board.
The Alanaging Director, Air. AYill Appleton, lias been associated with Air. Haines for tlie past nineteen years, and for seventeen years Mas Air. Haines’s partner. David Cody, Head Office Manager; Air. C. H. Dickinson, Auckland Alanager; and AI. A. B. Edwardes, Christchurch Manager. The Secretary is Air. P. G. Williams, A.I.A. N\Z. In short, the complete I control of the Agency is in tlie hands of a group of men selected and trained by Air. No disturbance of capital or changes in finances u 7 ill be made, but to provide for expansion in business tlie capital of the Company is being increased immediately, and the M'bole of the iicm* allotment will be issued to members of the Staff, increasing tlie number of the staff-shareholders from II to 18.
