SENTENCES AT NEW PLYMOUTH

At the Supreme Court this morning Mr Justice Smith imposed the following sentences: — William Draper, on eight charges of forgery and uttering, detention for reformative treatment for one year.
Ernest Frederick Loesch, for carnal knowledge, two years’ detention for reformative treatment.
Stanley William Roy Chattergee, for assault- with intent to commit rape, three years’ hard labour. William Joseph Badley, for theft as a servant and failure to account for moneys, detention for reformative treatment for one year. Robin Douglas Bloor, for carnal knowledge, four months’ imprisonment. Oswald Harry Parker, for breaking and entering and theft, five charges, and Archibald William Parkes, for breaking and entering and attempted breaking and entering, were dealt with on a charge -of attempted breaking and entering and theft, and on four charges of breaking and entering and theft. Parker was sentenced to five years at a Borstal Institute and Parkes to two years at a Borstal Institute. John Joseph Herbert Rush, for breaking and entering and theft, two charges, was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment on each charge, sentences to be concurrent.
