DANNEVIRKE RACES. SECOND . DAY’S RESULTS. (By Telegraph —Pleas Association.) DANNEVIRKE, Feb. 28. For the second day of the Dannevirke races the weather is fine and the track hard and fast. Results are: HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP. 1 Break o’ Day, 9.13 (A. Jenkins) * I ; 3 Novar, 10.12' f 2 Braeman, 9.7 « Scratched: Panorama. Won by three-quarters of a length, a length between second and third. Time, 2.11 2-5. NOVICE STAKES. Of 80 sovs. Six furlongs. All 8.5. 5 St. Melba (G. Wilton) 1 1 Mothplane 2 2 Tunbridge 3 Scratched: The Perch, Goodwill, Town Section. Won bv a head. Time, 1.16. HARTGILL HANDICAP. Of 200 sovs. One mile. 5 Rowley, 7.2 (E. Burgess) ... 1 4 Locarno, 8.0 2 2 High Court, 7.13 3 All started. Won by a head, four lengths between second and third. Time, 1.40 3-5. TAPUATA HANDICAP. Of 100 sovs. Seven furlongs. 7 Kiriana, 7.0 (C. Voitre) 1 2 Warfille, 7.11 ••••■ 2 5 Volplane, 7.3 Scratched: Delude, Repay. Won by a head, a length between second and third. Time, 1.29. •HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (ißy “ Limited.”) Dry tracks again conduced to fast times this morning at the Hawera racecourse. A good soaking rain would do an immense amount of good on the course as elsetvhere. iC. Jackson was first to work and gave Partaga solid pace work. Partaga is very well and ran his last seven furlongs in 1.34 under a strong pull. Tenacre, by himself, ran five furlongs- in 1.31-5, going particularly well over the first part. Orazone finished in front of Bisox over five furlongs in 1.34. iGolden Flower was just a bit too good for Banbridge over half a mile run in 50 l-ssec. Bright Glow was not galloped fast, doing- -steady pace work. Similar work •was "allotted to Mendip. Llanoro went over a mile at a good three-quarter pace, working in her usual taking style. Vivo worked at half pace, as also did Airway, iSilvermine and Coolmint. Latakia has freshened up and is looking and working well since his let up. Richfield and Anbridge ran half a mile in 51sec, Anbridge finishing in front," .. Royal Acre strode over a mile in good style in 1.48. Airtight and Calyx were responsible for steady pace work. Reremoana set the hallmark on the morning’s work by running his half mile in 48 2-5, beating Flying Binge. The Potoa—White Crane gelding finished in front of Grand Mamin over four furlongs in 5:1 l-ssec. Valpre was too good for Fortalice in a sprint over half a mile in 50sec. lOlever Spear and G a snapper did ordinary pace work. Mr A. Alexander’s fine colt Chief Link has been gelded, the operation turning out quite satisfactory.
