A cable message from Sydney announces the death of Dr. H. M. Hoyle, a member of the Legislative Council, aged 70. Air Oscar Thompson is likely to be one of the shipowners’ delegation to go to Australia on behalf of Kyis ant interests (states a London cable.). Air P. E. d e Jongli, of the Colonial Aiutual Life Assurance Society, New Plymouth, has been appointed supervisor for the Auckland province. He left New Plymouth yesterday to take up his new duties. Sir James Cony, London secretary ot rhe Commonwealth and Dominion* Line, is a passenger on the new motorship Port Alma, oeionging to the eompany, which arrived at blew Plymouth last evening from Lyttelton. Air and Airs lire, of New* South Wales are on a visit to New' Zealand and are at present the guests of Mrs U re’s uncle, Air. Don rfobertson, of Normanby.
Air W. Hayward, a well-known business man, has been selected by. the Citizens ’ Association to contest the Christchurch Mayoralty, states a Press Association telegram received to-day. Air A. P. Wilson, stipendiary steward •officiating n,t the Egrnont Racing Club meeting, is staying at the Commercial Hotel, Hawera. Air and Airs Standbridge, of Bangietu, Manawatu, and Mr and Airs Pollock, of Wellington, are guests at the Commercial Hotel at Tlawera.
Mr A. K. North, of Hawera, left by the mail train this morning on a business trip to Wellington.
