The publicity officer of the Railway Department (Mr G. Stewart) has written to Mr Hooker for a supply of folders dealing with Mt. Egmont and Dawson Falls, for use on the trains and at stations. A supply has also been sent to the Union S.S. Co., to be used on the steamers of that comi pany. These have all been forwarded. Beale, the British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, who has recently returned from a trip tothe Old World, speaks approvingly of the “national shop window,” which is to be a feature of the ’ South Taranaki Winter Show at Hawera this year. Mr Beale went Home last year with the Hon. L. S. Amery’s party, ] and on the way back had a trip to the East. He has been away just oyer a year.
Last evening, a three-seater ear, travelling south from Hawera, struck an electric light post and was capsized near Waitotara. The details are meagre, but it appears that the car driven by a Bulls resident, was returning from the 'Hawera races and when near Waitotara the driver lost control with tlio result that the car skidded and struck the 'pole and was turned completely over. The driver escaped injury, but the other occupant suffered severe cuts about the head and body. The car also was severely damaged.
