Heavy soaking rains rendered work on the plough track impossible, at the Egmont course this morning, and what little fast work was done was performed on the trial grass track, this being in very fair order. The exercise and pace work was performed on the sand.
C. Jackson was first out and galloped Partaga and Benzora -four furlongs. The pair ran the first two in 25secs and finished up in olsecs with Partaga a head 1 in front.
M. Conway sent Airway a good working gallop, and 1 she went five furlongs under a good pull in 1.11.
Iciogne was given useful pace work on the sand.
Orazone and Skypoint - were exercised in the centre on the lead.
Gasnapper ran half a mils on the grass in 52 l-ssecs.
Bright Glow did a couple of rounds on the sand at good working pace. M. Conway is sending the Greyspear two-year-old, Clever Spear, along now and 1 he did strong pace work on the two-year-old track. Flying Binge finished a couple of lengths ahead of Fortalice and Havering in a sprint over three furlongs, in 36 3-ssecs.
Bisox and Calyx were allotted pace work on the sand, Golden Flower working solidly on the same track. Mendip was given a round of strong pace work, Royal Acre doing similar work. Coolmint is looking nice and fresh again and trotted and cantered on the inside.
■Glengariff (M. Conway\ and Vivo (L. Edwards) were schooled together once round, jumping all but the last hurdles cleanly and cleverly. Animated and Atair worked together in pace work on the sand. Calamine and Ngawhine galloped a good five furlongs in 1.5. Callapat and Monaghan were companions over four furlongs, run in 51 secs.
Sovena and Yawl went six furlongs, finishing together in 1.18. The first of the visiting horses to put in an appearance arrived yesterday and was Golden Morn, trained by J. Potiple, of Waitara.
