After sixteen years’ service, Auckland’s veteran fire-bell, situated at the oorner of Great South Road and Panmure Road, lias been removed. It is now installed at the Otahuhu. fire station, and Avill be used only in the event of the electric siren being out of order. The bell was made in Sheffield in 1883 by the firm of Vickers and Sons, Ltd., and Avas first hung in Albert Street, Auckland.
