WELLINGTON WOOL SALE.
'COMPETITION WELL (SUSTAINED. (By Telegraph—Special to The Star.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Wellington, reports : The third wool sale of the season was held to-day when brokers offered a catalogue of 27,000 balesi .Our offering was approximately 3900 bales, of which 98 per cent, were sold at auction. There was a,very full bench of buyers, including representatives from Bradford, the .Continent, America, Dominion mills, local scourers and fellmongers. 'Competition was keen and well sustained. The demand was most spirited. As some of the Bradford buyers evidently had increased limits, their representatives secured more wool than at any previous auction this season. Continental competition was as keen as ever. Halfbred wool was eagerly competed for and prices are in sellers’ favour. 'Crossbred wools were from par to a halfpenny dearer, pieces’ and bellies were about .the same as last sale. Lambs’ wool sold exceptionally well and realised excellent- prices.; Merino were slow .of sale and hard to quit at late rates.
