GONVILEE v. HAWERA. T'lie enthusiasm o± ! 'bowlers is well known and it received a striking- confirmation yesterday when, despite heavy rain, four rinks from. Gonville- (Wanganui) Club, who had come to: try conclusions with a team from the Hawera Club, resolved after consultation toi finish the match. Overcoats and umbrellas were requisitioned and the match ended in a win for the local men by a margin of 32 points. The match was timed to begin in the morning, but was postponed till the afternoon. The visitors' were l welcomed by the Hawera president (Air G. A. Burgess) and the. hospitality of the -local players was aicknowledged by Air Bell on behalf of the visitors.

HAWERA CLUB. A number of club competitions have been played during the past week. On Wednesday the holders of the gold ferns, Champion, Foden, Spiers, Corkill (23), defeated the challengers, AfeCormiek, Goodchap, Janson, Wektaway (20). Championship Singles—.
