METHODIST CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
Services of a special character, appropriate to- the occasion, were held! yesterday in the Hawera Methodist Church, on the occasion of the Sunday School anniversary. There were laage congregations, morning, afternoon .and! evening, and all. services were condluct>cd by Rev. B. S. Emmitt. The elder children had been trained by Air H. C. A. Fox, and the tiny tots) by Miss Maida Squire, and alii their, items, solo and, concerted, were given, in a way that reflected great credit on all concerned. The numbers given were as below: — 1 Choruses (children), “The Heavenly City” and “Good Old Cause of Truth.” ; solos, Joyce Kniglitbridgc “My Wonderful Friend,’’ Feme Manners, “Little Ray of Gladness” ; duet by Fiances Willis and Marion Archbold, and) sdilosi by Betty Archbo'd and Lionel Hartmann. In tlie solo “Come Again,” by Ndliue Smith, and duets by Margaret Emmitt and' Enid Thornber, “Loyail Hearts We Bring,’ the chorus was sung by children and choir. In addition there were choruses (children and choir) “Love Supreme,” and a. hymn. “Beside the Day,” in which two' verses were sung by Master .Toe Hall, two verses in harmony by the clroir, and a children’s chorus after, each verse. The t-iiiv tots sung three .hymns, solos being taken by Betty Arehbofd and Lionel Hartmann. Miss Sauirre played for these numbers and Mr Thoiraber. for all tlie rest. Three hymns, “Stand! up and Bless the Lord.” “I Love to Hear the Story,” and “The Spacious Firmament,” were sung by the congregation. Sermons befitting the occasion and with .special reference to the work or the Sunclav schools were nreaohed by Mr E. S. Emmitt.
