ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BODY OF MISSING MAN FOUND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 1. According to a message received by the police from Rangitoto this afternoon the body of Henry James Whitley has. been found on the top of Rangitoto.. Whitley was a well-known business man of the finn of W. S. Whitley and Sons, gum brokers and produce merchants. He lias teen missing since last Saturday. He left his office that day at noon as usual and that was the last seen of him. He was 56 years of age.
RESCUED FROM SURF.
WELLINGTON, Dec. 3
Members of the Lyall Bay and Maraud Surf Clubs gave assistance, at LyaHl Bay yesterday afternoon to- two women and a man who found themsei’veis outside the line of breakers, and were, unable to get ashore. Later, when the Mairanui surfboat was cruising beyond the breakers, the crew observed a swimmer who was unable to giet back to shiore. He was picked up and tended! safely. The surf was only moderate, but there was a slight backwash.
