NATIVE OF ELTHAM.
MR H. R. JENKINS, M.P., ACCORDED. CIVIC RECEPTION.
(By Telegraph—Pre»« Association.) ELTHAM, Nov. 26. Mr. H. R. Jenkins, M.P. for Parnell, was accorded a civic reception this morning. He was the first white child born in the district and spent his early life in Eltliam. The Mayor (Mr. I. J. Bridger) presided, and there was a gathering of about sixty citizens. Speeches congratulating the guest on his election to Parliament were made by Mr. I. J. Bridger, Sir Walter Carncross (Speaker of the Legislative Council), Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P. for Egmont, and Cr. McGuinness (deputy-chairman of the 'Eltham County Council). Mr. Jenkins expressed gratification at the heartiness of the reception and returned thanks for the congratulations accorded to him.
GIFT TO PLUNKET SOCIETY

A handsome gift to the Plunket Society marked the visit to Eltham of Mr. H. R. Jenkins, M.P., who is the first Eltham-bom boy to be elected l to Parliament. During the welcome tendered hv the townspeople to Mr. Jenkins he donated to the local branch of the Plunket Society the land and buildings at present occupied by the society in King Edward Street. Appreciation of the donor’s generosity was voiced by the Mayor (Mr. I. J. Bridger), who accepted the gift on behalf' of the Plunket Society and expressed thanks to Mr. Jenkins. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P.. who had previously given a section of land in York Street to the society,' was present, and 1 intimated lie would do-, nate the equal in value to the society for building purposes if the society did not now require that section in view of the generous gift made by Mr. Jenkins.
