TARANAKI JERSEY COUNCIL.

HAWERA TO BE ASKED TO JOIN. CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. At a general meeting of the Taranaki Provincial Jersey Council held in Stratford yesterday it was decided to ask the Hawera Jersey Club- to join up. "There were present Messrs D. O'Sullivan (presiding), H. C. Sampson, J. Browning, E. Griffiths, G. Bell, F. Cornwall, and \V. Johnson. The resolution was the outcome of a discussion centred on the probability of persuading the Hawerai Club to join the council, and in this connect ion Mr. O’Sullivan reported that members of the Hawera Club had been informally approached, but no progress had been made.

(Mr. Bell said he had spoken to a member of the Hawera Club, but had received little encouragement. It would be necessary to go into the affairs of the council. It was hardly right to call the body a provincial council when only two bodies were affiliated.

The election of officers was not proceeded .with, it being held that this should not be done till after the meeting with the Hawera and Kaponga clubs.

The meeting could not be regarded as an annual meeting, Mr. O’Sullivan said. It was more a conference of the Stratford and New Plymouth clubs.
