COLONIAL COMPETITIONS.

At. the Dairy Show, the colonial! competitions resulted as follows : BUTTER. Salted (75 entries) —Oa.ntilo (N.S.W.) 96 points, 1; Oomboyne and Gloucester (N.S.W.), ismoh. 95, 2; South Australian Farmers’ Narraeorte, 'Gayndaih (Queensland), each 94, 3. Unsalted (61 entries) —Oakey (Queens- ' ’and), 96 points, 1; Soutli Wolumba (N.S.W.), 95!, second and reserve; Marpborough (Queensland), 94-1. .2; Downs, Dai'iey (Queensland), and Shannon (N.Z.), each 94, 3; vt.ry highly commended. Northern and Central New South Wales, 93) ; commended, Dawns Goombungee, Downs Toowoomba, each 93. CHEESE. New Zealand ;v©n all the prizes in ohees'e. Eden dale was first, Cardiff second. Fairfax third. •South Africa took all the awards in bacon,and eggs. The Australian Trade arid Publicity Department staged a large and excellent display, comprising butter, ohpese, •eggs, bacon and honey, photographs of dairy farms and pastoral scenes. This attracted much attention. The department sold attractive twopenny samples of butter and threepenny jars of honey. The judges of Dominion butter speak •saffed class, who is a buyer for one of the exhibits. The judge of the unsalted 1 class, who -i« a buyer or one of f ive biggest blending firms, said that he would willingly have- purchased all but six exhibits if thev had been offered to him at Tooley Street.
