MR F. GILLANDERS NOT A CANDIDATE. Following upon persistent rumours that Mr F. Gillanders had consented to nomination to. contest the Patea seat at the forthcoming elections, a “Hawera Star” reporter made inquiries (this morning and was informed that there was .no foundation for such statements. In the absence, of Mr Gillanders, who was out of town to-day, Mrs Gillanders definitely stated that he had no intention of entering the political arena, and further that in the near future they had other plans which would necessitate their absence from Hawera for some time.
