W ASHED FROM ROOKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, -Oct. 8. At the inquest concerning -the death of .Mrs Catherine Willis Begg, whose body was found near Lawyers Head on October 1, a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. 'The evidence showed that the deceased was an official -collector for the natural histoTy section of -the National Museum of Wales and was in the habit of collecting specimens from rocks and pools along the coast. She was not unacquainted with this coast, where there are many kelp-covered rocks accessible at low .tide, but breaker-washed. The indications were that she was swept from one of these. Deceased’s -shoes indicated a slip.

BODY SEEN IN RIVER. CHRISTOHUR CH, Oct. 5, The- body -of a- man was -seen floating down, the Waima-kariri river -at Whites’ bridge between 5 -and 6 o’ clock yesterday evening by a contractor, H. Farrier, who followed down t)ie river bank for over a mile trying to recover it, but darkness -set in. The b-ody was that of a fairly big man. It was dressed in a- white singlet, cardigan jacket and dark trousers. The police are searching the lower reaches of the river and adjacent foreshores, ala the body was probably carried out to sea by the heavy flood in the river last night. FOUND DEIAD. CHRISTCHURCH? Oct. 8. Adam Eirnest Smith, aged 51, an insurance agent, was found dead this morning at his residence with a gun alongside the body.
