LOST IN THE DESERT.
DEMENTED THROUGH EXPOSURE. SHOOTING PARTY’S ORDEAL. (Australian Press Association —United Service.) CAIRO, Oct. 5. An Egyptian official and an Italian with a. chauffeur and a Bedouin guide, left Cairo on September 29 for a day’s shooting in the Wadinatrun district, intending to return in the evening. They carried only a day’s supplies. As they did not return a search was instituted, including British Air Force machines. A two days’ search was fruitless, but the guide returned to Cairo saying the petrol was exhausted the party had lost their way. v The airmen renewed the search, the machines flying low, and to-day, near Favyoum an airman saw a man, clad only in a shirt, waving a handkerchief at the end of a rifle. On alighting the airman found the man was demented, and later found the other two iii a cave, likewise .demented, stalking each other with rifles. All three were in a tpitiable state. They were given restoratives and borne in stretchers 'to an aeroplane fend taken to the Heliopolis ‘aerodrome. No trace of the motor lias been found and the men are not yet able to give a coherent account of their adventure.
