OPUNAKE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The usual monthly meeting of the Opunake School Committee was held on Thursday evening last, those present being Messrs G. H. Hutton (chairman), A. Raynor (secretary), W. 11. Burgess (headmaster)., R. Walker, C. M. Clare, P. Dalrymple,, H. D. Davey, and F. Loescli. The headmaster reported that the average attendance in the primary department was 174 and the roll number 202, and in the secondary the average was 30 and the roll number 31. Several improvements were being carried out by the Education Board’s 6taff. The secondary department was* inspected by Mr. Henry, who expressed himself pleased with the work and methods. The new school will be occupied next week. It was decided to hold the official opening of the new school on the 31st inst. GENERAL. On Saturday evening the Federal Band under Bandmaster J. Humphries played several selections in the main street.
