SOUTH AFRICAN SECESSION
ADVOCATED BY LABOUR MEMBER. EFFECT ON PARTY POLITICS. (Australian Press Association — United Service .) Received 1 p.m. to-day. ..CAPETOWN, &ept. 2d. Despite General Her tz-og’s declaration that the advocacy of republicanism would mean a disruption of tne Nationalists, two clergymen of the Dutch Church are leading the extremists. The country was astonished to-day when Mr. Allen, a prominent Labour member of Parliament, announced himself as being in favour of Republicanism, adding* that the country would probably .adjust pursuit of the secession object to tne exigencies of the time. He urged Labourites frankly to declare that republicanism was not abandoned. The probable result will be that tli© working class Dutch will join the Labour extremists.
