CORRESPONDENCE.
THE EGMONT SEAT. (To the Editor.) -Sir, —Is 'Mr C. A. Wilkinson, the Independent candidate for Egmont, genunie in his expressed opposition to the Reform Party? A Reform friend of mine Was been rude enough to suggest that Mr Wilkinson is still loyal tc the old love, and that he is working a gigantic bluff on the Liberal voters of Egmont by securing their support to oust Mr i-lawken, so that he can again become the Reform member him*, self. Of course, I strenuously opposed the suggestion that Mr Wilkinson would be guilty of such a deceitful! action, but my Reform friend just laughed, land told be that Colonel Alan Bell successfully “pulled off” the same “stunt” in the /Bay 'of Island's electorate, where as an Independent candidate, with the aid of the Liberal vote,' he defeated the then Government member, Mr Vernon Reed. The following general election saw 'Colonel Alan Bell standing as “the official Reform candidate!” In view of the fact that Mr Wilkinson has publicly declared that the Reform Party lias been in power too long will he give us his assurance that in the event of his return to Parliament he will at no future. time accept nomination for Egmont as a Reform candidate? —I am, etc.. ANTI-HUMBUG.
