PERFORMANCES AT OLYMPIAD. REPORT FROM MANAGER. I . (By Tefegrapu— 'Press Association.j WELLINGTON, Sept. 26, A report dated 'Afigusit. .16, ’1928, from the manager pi the. New Zealand Olympic team (Mr 11. Ariios) detailing the New Zealanders’ peiitoruiaiices at Amsterdam was presented to the Olympic Council to-night. “Mils® Wilson,” wrote jVfr Amos, 1 “mu hi not do her best on the day and in the cireuinstatides slie ran well.' “In the boxing section, Gleverley did not rise to the* occasion, and he fought disappointingly against a very average ink'll. Morgan performed brilliantly arid the issues were never int doubt. His ' tights were among the few where there was rip disputing the decisions. “The judging throughout was most unsatisfactory; a good bdxer had no chance against a. slogger. Many of the boxers were allowed to 'fight with their beads, elbows, arid in some eases their teeth. Mariy 'of tile decisions were badly -received and no vorider; in some cases there was almost a riot. “The track at the stadium was riot too satisfactory and it cut up badly. “Canada is endeavouring to arrange an Empire Sports- meeting at Hamilton. Ontario, about August. 1.930, and will extend invitations to the various governing bodies throughout the Empire to be represented. “A southern hemisphere sports meeting between South Africa, Australia.' and New. Zealand has also been suggested, the first meeting tri take pl-acei in Sydney in 1929 or 1931., and Africa and Australia are both in favmir. of it.”
'Regarding the possibility of obtaining, overseas.athletic teams, Mr Amos stat-i ed New Zealand might obtain a good; German team. He found the Germans, the 'best- sports in Europe. The Oana-i diaiiis would he prepared .to come at an early date, but hardly before the 192930 season. Oanadiv .had some splendid l athletes. The only chance for the next season was America. There should bo ■no difficulty in getting a good team from California. The New Zealand team, will arrive at, Wellington about October 10.
