SOUTH TA.RIANAK 1 WORK
At the meeting of the executive committee of the South Taranaki tßeturned Soldiers’ Association last evening there wore present:—'Messrs P. It. VeJtch (chairman), H. S. Webber, M. O. Grighton, M. It. Jones, W. P. Morrissey, J. B. Harrop, It, Holland and It. MoCay (secretary). Prior to the routine business' a vote of .sympathy was acorded the relatives of the late Mr D. Harrop, of Pi'hama. Mr Harrop, who "Was. a brother of Mr J. B. Harrop, was an active member of the association.
A (letter received from the .Dominion secretary expressed, the thanks, of the standing sub-committee for the courtesy extended to the Dominion President (Sir Andrew Russell) and the secretary (Mr S'. J. Harirson) on the occasion of their recent visit to Taranaki. The letter also conveyed an intimation of the .pleasure it hod afforded the standing sub-committee to receive rice secretary’s report showing the continued interest evinced' in the association by returned men of the district. | The .secretary gave details of four claims, for .pensions which had. been: taken up. It was shown that in two cases the representations of the association had succeeded in having the pensions granted and it was. decided in another instance to make a further appeal. lib wais decided to make representation, on ibehalf of an incapacitated exsendee man whose disability was not directly due to war service, for assistance from the Canteen and Regimental Trust Funds.. , New membens 1 of the association were elected as follow: —K. A. Carmichael (Kiakaramea) and P. Grace (Hawera).
