The honour of being the first batsman to complete 3000 runs for the season, the first since 1925, was gained by Hendren in the match Yorkshire v. M.C.C. at Scarborough to-day. It is freely rumoured that Hammond, the Gloucestershire cricketer, after his return from Australia, may apply to become an amateur. Hammond is reluctant to give a statement concerning his plans, but it is understood certain prospective changes in bis business career will render the amateur status possible. NEW ZEALAND CRICKET, LTD. COMPANY TO BE WOUND TP. (Bv Telegrapn—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 5. The New Zealand Cricket, Ltd., the company which was responsible for the financial arrangements for the New Zealand cricket team that toured England. is to be- wound up. A final meeting of the company was held last evening, and on the motion of the chairman; Mr. D. Reese, it was decided-that the company be wound up ,voluntarily. Air. A. E. Byrne, secretary, was appointed liquidator. The meeting passed a vote of thanks to the -Government for its grant of £-1000 towards the exnenses of -the tour, and congratulated the New Zealand Cricket- Council on the success of the team.
