STOCK MARKETS.

A HBAiLiTHY .POSITION. GOOD' ALL-ROUND- OEM ANT) The. .recent, sales in the district reveal a strong position in the stock market with good prices generally. But business tni.s week has shown, what lias been stressed again and again, that quality and condition are esesntaal if the demand is to be expected for at every .sale the second rate stuff commanded little attention. Fat cattle, are pretty scare, due to the need for more pasture improvement in the farm lands and there has been a drain from abroad, from Manawatu and other districts whose buyers have been operating recently. There is also, a shortage in fat sheep, due practically to the same causes. It .is certain that there is not so 1 much feed growth as would have been expected from the mild winter. This, however, is improving weekly and the late mild .rains will soon make their influence felt. . Dairy cows are still in demand but there Is not the same supply ,«of the best class of stock. There has been a great “sorting up” of the good stock, largely to go away. The vendors of the pedigree Jerseys this week. Coulters, of Blenheim, should be pleased with the results of the sale. Buyer? came from Manawatu, Gisborne, Waverley, Kai Iwi, Wanganui. and secured a large proportion. Two went away to. the Massey College for the herd which is being built up at Palmerston North. Pigs have been somewhat quiet and prices a little lower, but this lias actually been caused by the rather poor quality of the offerings.. . , Generally the position is good in the country for 1 ambings is at a high percentage and conditions very favourable, so that there should be few losses.. On the dairy farms cows, are coming in fast with a generally low proportion of calving troubles and large numbers of Ibdb'bv' calves are going to the freezing works.

DON’T NEGLECT A COMMON CASE OF PILES—IT MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS RESULTS.

When people generally understand that all such fatal diseases as fistula, ulcer of the rectum, fissure, etc., almost invariably begin in a simple case of piles they will learn the wisdom of taking prompt treatment for the first appearance of this trouble. Doan s Ointment is unequalled for every form of piles—bleeding, itching, protruding, and blind piles —and hundreds of lives have been saved by using this cheap but effective remedy right at the start, because at such times a single pot has often effected a cure, while in the old. deep-seated, chronic cases several pots are sometimes neeessarv. Here is a case: Mrs. M. Brown, “Toronto,” Lyons Bond, Fivo Dock, Sydney, says: “Three years ago I used Doan’s Ointment. for a bad attack of piles, and I am pleased to tell you it completely cured me Previous to trying this ointment I tried all kinds of remedies, but they gave me little or no ielief._ 1 was suffering terribly when I first applied Doan’s. Ointment, and had little hope of it doing me any good, hut its soothing and healing effects were noticeable almost at once, and by the time I had used one pot T was completely cured. Jam a great belie er in Doan’s Ointment, and consider it the best pile remedv known. It cured me after other remedies had failed.”

Four years later Mrs. Brown says: “I have'had no return of my old complaint since Doan’s Ointment cured me about seven years ago.” Doan’s Ointment is sold by all chemists and storekeepers. Foster McClellan Co.. Proprietors. 15 Hamilton Street. Sydney.
