Mr. A. C. Lovelock, of Woodville, who is intending to settle in the Ha-we-ra- district, is at present staving at the Central Hotel. Mr J. Dick, who has been for nine . years on the staff of Messrs Johnston and Co., Ltd’., H'awera, lias been transfererd to the Wellington office and left a few days ago. Before his departure 'he was met by the staff and on their behalf pic. sen ted - with a travelling rug by the manager. Mr Geo. Meyrick, who i wished him good luck and a happy time { •in his new sphere of work. * The death of Mr David Harrop, a business man of Piliaina, will t be learnt with regret by his many friends by whom he was held in high esteem. H,Ls people were old settlers, probably of twenty years’ standing .and his brother is still alive. He was. a valued member of tlie P'ihama Bowling Club, Opunake Rlacdng Club, and took a keen interest in 6port generally. The keen interest taken in the work of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs and in the Winter Show by Mr. Thomas Innes, of Okaiawa, who is shortly retiring from the headmaster-ship of the school, was the subject of many upper ci at ive remarks by the members of the executive of the Winter Show last night-. It was - agreed that his work had been of permanent value to the show, and a letter of keen apprecia- —- fcion was sent to him some days ago. Members were urged to take a. live interest in the farewell social to he held shortly. His successor, Mr. C. Everts, from- Oaonui, i.s a keen supporter, and bis school has consistently won the writing shield. The support given by Air. Tunes to the show -will he much missed.
