IS, Wairarapa and Marlborough met in .i Kaniurly Smeld match in beautiful weather before an attendance of auw. . , ill first spell was marked by tight play by the challengers, while the Wairarapa backs attempted an open game and started several passing bouts, but the Marlborough defence was sound for 15 minutes, when Parker passed to Cundy, who cut out ali opposition to Aston, the full-back, and transferred to Stringfellow, who scored near the posts. Wairarapa forwards were much superior to their opponents, and confined play mostly to the Marlborough half.' Several fierce thrusts by Q. Donald. Barker, Fairbrother and Jury were held up on the line, and finally Gilt managed to relieve to halfway.,' Satherley had to retire with a hurt shoulder. Boyce taking his - place. \ fine forward rush by Devine, Boyce, Roberts' and Gill had Wairarapa in trouble under the goal, but a free kick relieved. There was ragged play till the Wairarapa forwards again asserted their superiority. but after Sharp had penetrated to a scoring '•osition Candy dropped a pass and the chance was lost. Aston hurt his ankle and retired'. Isherwood taking his place. ’Washington had two good chances to goal, hut the kick fell short on both occasions. At half-time there was no further score, but Marlborough narrowly missed securing a try. Botham being beaten for the hall bv Jury.
The second spell opened with the Wairwra.pa forwards still on the attack. In the .25 Cundy, Q. Donald and Stringfellow dribbled and Isherwood failed to stop the rush,. Jury picked up to score and Cundy goalod. Wairairajxi 8 Marlborough 0
Near half-way Cundy was caught with 'the ball and Cameron skied a high one. Cormack missed and Woolley carried on. Yates tackled and Woolley lost the ball on the 'line, but V. Barclay fell on it, to score. Washington missed ait easy goal. Waif am pa .. . . 3 Marlborough ..' 3

In play near the Wairarapa twentyfive Stringfellow 'skied ‘ia high one In Barclay and Yates raced up, took tho ball out of his hand's and ran to li,slier wood, kicked over his head and raced in to score. He converted his own try. Wairarapa 13 Marlborough 3 Lo Quo's no broke through, passed to the wings who missed, picked up and passed to Fairbrother, who ran in. Cundy goalod with a great kick.
Wairarapa , 18 Marlborough 3 Cundy blundered a take from Hadlickl and passed back to Stringfellow who also fumbled. Hounsell kicked through and scored near the posts, sherwood goaled. Donald caused Isherwood to miss the ball. Hart picked up, passed to W alker, who scored midway. Cundy coaled. Wairarapa 2b Marlborough p Roberts was easily the best back for the visitors. The game ended with no urther score.
