TARANAKI AND WANGANUI.

INTER-CHANGE OP MATCHES,

Home and home matches between the Taranaki and Wanganui Rugby Unions were discussed at o, meeting of delegates of the unions at New Plymouth oii Sat urday.

, There were present: Messrs Jos. McLeod (chairman), A. F. Neilsen, W.'H. Moves, L. ,f. Purrie, W. B. Fearon, ,T. Garcia and S. E. Neilsoii secretary), representing the Taranaki Union, and Dr. G. J. Adam's (president), Messrs C. 11. Warden, G. H. Pownall and R. P. Lundoii, representing the t Wanganui Union.

The chairman explained that the proposal was thht Taran’aki and Wanganui should continue to play home and hotne games as at present, but that the .Tune, .‘5 match should 'be played alternately at Wanganui and Taranaki, the return match fco be played also alternately at Taranaki and Wanganui. In addition it Was proposed that there (should be home and home matches between Taranaki and 'Wanganui JB teams, the B teams to travel 'on the day their A teams were at home.

'The Wanganui delegates pointed out, that the Taranaki match on June 3 had come to bo looked forward to by' the Wanganui public and Was easily the best draw of the year for them. In view of the financial liabilities they had incurred they asked that the arrangement be not disturbed, for a year or two at least. They were willing to pla.v home and home B matches and would send a B team to Taranaki next June 3. - i

After some discussion the delegates agreed to recommend the Taranaki Rugby Union t;o play the .match as usual at Wanganui next June 3, and the matter will be again discussed next year after frying a season with home and home A and B matches.

It was further suggested that annual matches should be played 'between the Champion club’s teams in each of the four grades under the two unions, two matches to take place in Taranaki and two in Wanganui each year.
